- Ewe Beauty Dry Feed and Stubbles
Salt Based: Advanced dry season supplement with elevated levels of essential protein, vitamins and minerals for sheep grazing stubbles & in dry conditions. EWE BEAUTY DRY FEED & STUBBLES Stubbles start as high quality feed but deplete quickly as the sheep clean up the spilt grain. Olsson’s Ewe Beauty Dry Feed & Stubbles is a high-protein, multi-nutrient supplement specifically designed for use with stubbles and during the dry season with a formulation that provides additional supplementation when pasture quality is low. Like Ewe Beauty All Seasons, it contains a balanced array of trace elements, vitamins and minerals, providing targeted supplementation for sheep. However, it also contains 9% urea to provide a source of rumen-degradable nitrogen for low-protein feed situations. Ewe Beauty Dry Feed & Stubbles’ block form regulates the intake of nutrients, meaning the sheep can only consume nutrients as fast as they can absorb them. Warning: Products containing urea can be toxic to livestock. Please ensure proper farm management practices are employed. Available in 20kg blocks. - Fluoroacetate Poisoning | Olsson's Blocks
Gidgee & other fluoroacetate poisoning EFFECTS OF FLUOROACETATE POISONING ON LIVESTOCK: The Georgina Gidgee of western Queensland & eastern Northern Territory contains fluoroacetate, a naturally occurring metabolic poison. Heartleaf Bush of the desert uplands of central Queensland and Western Australia also contain fluoroacetate. When ingested by cattle it sets off a chain of complex reactions. Enzymes react to the fluoroacetate and produce fluorocitrate, which is responsible for hypocalcemia (low levels of calcium in the blood). The fluorocitrate also impairs cellular oxidative metabolism, meaning the animal's oxygen levels (and therefore energy levels) are lowered. The lower energy reduces glutamate, a chemical that nerve cells use to send signals to other cells, and with this out of wack the animal is unable to regulate acid balance and ammonia removal. This results in an increase of acidosis and an increase in ammonia within the animal. In short, ingesting fluoroacetate containing plants causes hypocalcemia (low calcium levels), hypoglycemia (low energy levels), and interferes with acid & ammonia balance. Each of these issues on their own can be detrimental to cattle, and in combination are deadly. To combat these issues we have developed the Live Stock Range for Fluoroacetate Poisoning. The blocks listed below are to be fed in conjunction to assist in minimising and/or preventing the poisoning. For more information please speak to an Olsson's rep or call our hotline on 1800 804 096. SYMPTOMS: Physical symptoms of fluoroacetate poisoning can include rapid breathing, trembling, heart failure or irregularities, moderate bloating, frequent urination, bone chewing, and sudden death, often while drinking or mustering. - Blue Caviar Equine Block
Molasses Based: A calcium & mineral supplement to assist where deficiency may be prevalent. Plus seaweed, essential linseed oil & biotin. BLUE CAVIAR EQUINE BLOCK FOR HORSES Olsson’s Blue Caviar Equine Block is formulated for horses grazing pastures such as buffel, kikuyu, setaria, and other exotic grasses. Extended grazing on these types of pastures has been associated with a condition commonly referred to as “Big Head” in horses. This condition is linked in published research to dietary imbalances involving calcium and phosphorus, where calcium can become unavailable due to excess dietary phosphorus. Reported signs include facial bone changes and other skeletal issues. This product is provided as a nutritional supplement only and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease or condition; veterinary advice should be sought where health concerns are present. Available in 16 & 40kg blocks. Olsson's supports local business and as such we sell our products through local rural agents. - Olsson's Free Choice System | Olsson's Blocks
ALL NORTHERN BLOCKS BLOCKS FOR PRODUCTION FEEDING BROCHURE (PDF) NORTHERN We place major minerals in individual supplement blocks, allowing the animals to choose which minerals they require as they require them. By feeding the Free Choice program over a standard multi-nutrient block, the animal has the ability to choose and balance what they require- this ends up reducing consumption by up to 25%. Olsson's Free Choice System identifies nutritional deficiency in livestock and satisfies the deficiency effectively. Studies have found all ruminants need a source of protein (nitrogen), a source of sulphur, a source of trace elements, and for livestock in the North, a source of phosphorus in order to be at their most productive. We place these major minerals in individual supplement blocks, allowing the animals to choose which minerals they require as they require them. No time is wasted and deficiency is corrected quickly and effectively. The Free Choice Northern System includes: NT Uraphos (urea supplement for protein), 16% High Sulphur or Allicin + Sulphur (sulphur), Superphos 8% or Superphos 12% (phosphorus) and Trace Element Northern Breeder (complete trace element blend). Because the Free Choice System splits the macro minerals, animals can have a choice in their nutritional requirements. They can satisfy their own nitrogen requirement, sulphur requirements, and can balance their own sulphur to nitrogen ratio by consuming varying amounts of urea and sulphur blocks separately, avoiding over consumption. - Equine Calcium Plus
Salt Based: A chelated calcium & vitamin D supplement to combat areas of low calcium availability from oxalate rich pastures. EQUINE CALCIUM PLUS Olsson’s Equine Calcium Plus provides a source of calcium & vitamin D for horses grazing high phosphorus pastures. During periods of low dietary calcium intake, calcium can be mobilised from bone to maintain normal blood calcium levels. If inadequate dietary calcium persists, the bone calcium may be replaced by fibrous tissue, which has been associated with weakened bones and a condition commonly referred to as “Big Head.” This is most often observed in horses grazing tropical grasses such as kikuyu, buffel, setaria, green panic, para grass, pangola grass, guinea grass, signal grass and purple pigeon grass. These grasses contain oxalates that bind calcium, reducing its availability for absorption, and diets high in phosphorus, such as those containing significant cereal grain, can also reduce calcium availability.
