Extended grazing on these types of pastures has been associated with a condition commonly referred to as “Big Head” in horses. This condition is linked in published research to dietary imbalances involving calcium and phosphorus, where calcium can become unavailable due to excess dietary phosphorus. Reported signs include facial bone changes and other skeletal issues.
